About Us

Who Is Project Road Trip?

We provide a limited combination of nonprofessional therapeutic activities, similar to those offered by medically licensed adventure, recreation and social therapist. We offer both indoor and outdoor activities and most activities are performed in a group setting. PRT provides hands on activities that promote adventure, recreation and social interaction as a supplement to traditional forms of talk therapy. These non-traditional therapy activities are all about having fun and getting away from the day to day pressures of daily life. More important, they also open additional doors to the healing process that is essential to personal growth, decreasing feelings of loneliness and isolation and reducing stress and anxiety. Activities are planned to promote productivity for individuals with disabilities, team building, communication, cooperation and interaction with others, and ultimately veterans and their family members living a happier life.

Therapeutic Activities For Veterans

Although studies have shown therapeutic activities have been beneficial in the treatment of anger management issues, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD); and other aftermaths behaviors due to traumatic events, none of the activities offered by PRT are carried out under the direction, supervision or consultation of a licensed therapist. Medical professionals and individual therapeutic treatment plans are not a part of the services provided. Please contact the Department of Veteran Affairs or your medical provider regarding these types of licensed services. PRT also strongly recommends that all participants discuss any questions they may have about their personal therapeutic treatment and participation in any of the activities provided by PRT with their medical provider as appropriate and necessary.
